The hills of Llŷn offer panoramic views of Anglesey, Wicklow, Pembrokeshire, Cadair Idris and Snowdonia – although they are not among the highest in Wales, they have a majestic feeling about them and because of the proximity of the coast the hills seem much higher. Many ascents are long and steep. Some walks are very short – less than a mile. It is a wonderful area, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The weather is often much better than Snowdonia with the hills being basked in sunshine when Snowdonia is experiencing monsoon conditions. There are areas that are remote and it is easy to find solitude in these hills and history, heritage and culture.
