Disgrifiad Cymraeg / Welsh Description

Cyfrol o gerddi gan Alison Binney, athrawes Saesneg a bardd o ardal Caergrawnt a gyhoeddodd ei gwaith mewn amryw o gylchgronau barddoniaeth. Mae'r cerddi tyner a ffyrnig-delynegol yn archwilio thema hunaniaeth rhywioldeb mewn modd personol a gwleidyddol, gan symud o gyflwr o dawelwch, cywilydd ac arwahanrwydd hyd at brofiad o falchder, dathliad a chymuned.

Disgrifiad Saesneg / English Description

Alison Binney's Mslexia prize-winning pamphlet Other Women's Kitchens explores the theme of coming out from a range of perspectives, some personal, some political. From the intimacy of a kitchen to the public space of the street, the poems trace a broad narrative of movement from silence, shame and isolation towards pride, celebration and community.

Alison Binney teaches English in a state secondary school and to trainee teachers on the PGCE English course at the University of Cambridge. Since creating more space in her life for writing, over the last four years she has been widely published, including in The North, Magma, Under the Radar, Butcher’s Dog and Popshot. Her poems have been longlisted in the National Poetry Competition and Highly Commended in The Bridport Prize. She founded the Cambridge branch of the National Writing Project, which brings together teachers as writers, and occasionally leads one-day writing and walking courses in the Peak District.
