This is the last in the series of the Travelling School Mystery books, following on from Libby and the Parisian Puzzle , Libby and the Highland Heist and Libby and the Manhattan Mystery . What could be better than a school that travels the world so the students can experience the delights of different places? Although it seems that danger, mystery and adventure follow the students on their travels. Libby and her best friend Connie, together with Noah, Sebastian and Anastasia, find themselves in Egypt for this educational adventure. Immediately the story immerses the reader in the sounds, sights and smells of an authentic Egypt with the author's vivid descriptive writing. The students' first visit, to a museum to see Tutankhamun's mask, soon evolves into an intriguing puzzle when it emerges that valuable artefacts have been stolen. This turns into a dangerous game of cat and mouse as the students realise that someone may be after them with wicked intentions. Missing camels, hissing snakes, mysterious phone calls, secret meetings and near death experiences. Are these caused by Tutankhamun's dreaded curse, or is there a more sinister explanation? Who can they trust to confide in? Libby and her friends are running out of time if they are to escape the reaches of whatever or whoever is chasing them across Egypt. Each part of this exhilirating adventure is brought to life by the brilliant illustrations by Becka Moor, which add even more layers to the wonderful imagery in this book. However, the highlight of this book is the attention to detail in regard to Egypt itself. From the description of Luxor train station to the canopic jars, shabti figures, hieroglyphics, cartouches and history of Tutankhamun; this story is overflowing with an abundance of accurate information. The geographical referencing detailing the Great Pyramids of Gaza, Luxor Temple, Abu Simbel, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Nile and Valley of the Kings makes the reader feel completely immersed in every step of Libby's adventure. I now wish to retrace Libby's Egyptian experiences, but without the escapades! This is a fast-paced, entertaining story bursting at the seams with a truly authentic Egyptian content.
