Dr Jonathan Hicks is the headteacher of a Penarth secondary school. He is a well-respected World War I historian and has written four factual books about that war. This is his second novel.

The second Thomas Oscendale novel, following the success of The Dead of Mametz . Demons Walk Amongst Us opens in Gallipoli on 4 March 1915, as the invasion force prepares to land on the Dardanelles. Second Lieutenant Thomas Oscendale of the Military Foot Police fights alongside the soldiers as they come ashore at Y Beach on the Gallipoli peninsular. The novel later moves on to Ypres in 1917. Oscendale is a thoughtful detective who fights against the brutality he sees all around him during WWI to bring a killer to justice and to solve the mystery surrounding the reason for the murders. Vivid picture of life in the trenches and in the industrial towns of south Wales during the Great War as well as an absorbing story full of twists.
