Morgan was educated at Dynevor Grammar School, Swansea, before taking up and completing a telecommunications apprenticeship with the General Post Office. Following two years National Service in the RAF as an Air Radar Mechanic on V-Bombers, he continued his career in the GPO as a Telecommunications Engineer. He subsequently entered the Steel and Tinplate Industry as a Chartered Engineer specialising in Telecommunications and Computer Automation Systems. Following retirement, he rejoined the Tinplate Industry as an Engineering Consultant to Project Manage the Millennium Bug Change-over and he has been engaged ever since as Curator of the Tinplate Museum at Trostre Works, Llanelli.
